Space fun for primary school aged kids on Saturday 16th August at the Hub. A “playshop” designed for primary school children (KS1 and KS2) around a trip to the International Space Station.
Dressing up as an astronaut, cosmonaut or taikonaut, we’ll imagine building and launching on rockets, travelling to the ISS and docking. We’ll make ourselves at home and then go on an extravehicular activity to pretend to service the equipment on the outside of the ISS.
You’re more than welcome to bring your own fancy dress and favourite alien. Sessions of 75 minutes run at the following times:
- 11:30 to 12:45
- 13:00 to 14:15
- 14:30 to 15:45
- 16:00 to 17:15
Playshops are being run at the Hub, Mulberry Park, Combe Down. We’ll be using the mobile planetarium for certain parts of the playshop to help inspire imaginations; the audience is sat on the floor inside the dome of the planetarium on 20 floor cushions for comfort. The playshops are run by volunteers from Bath Astronomers. Parents can stay for the session. The trip to the ISS will contain simulated emergencies and so there will be mild peril in the content but happy endings are promised. Suitable for children aged 4 and up.
The sessions can be booked via https://bathastronomers.org.uk/astronuts_at_the_hub
