A class of 8 young scientists came along to BRLSI on Saturday to attend a workshop entitled Sculpted by Gravity. Previous sessions may have been headlined by the copious quantities of Lego to help explain astronomical instrumentation or events but the 2 metre diameter ring of lycra, the poles from a tent and plumbing parts from B&Q made a great table top sized gravity well that everyone could participate in.
A riot in terms of volume and enjoyment with a little science thrown in. Congratulations to those young scientists that managed to replicate the Apollo era Free Trajectory Return used to bring all the astronauts back from the Moon or the Figure 8 as it became more readily known as everyone had 3 goes to try and recreate.
