Astronomy doesn’t have to end at dawn. The daytime often allows viewing of the Moon, bright planets, bright stars, and, of course, the Sun.
Hopefully all know that looking directly at the Sun isn’t a clever idea and can damage your eyes but using an optical device can speed up the damage and its severity leading to blindness. Eeek. Should you even consider such a dangerous passtime? The answer is a resounding yes. It’s like driving a car. Be very careful when the kids are around and follow the rules without shortcuts whilst doing it. Of course if you have 12 points on your license perhaps solar observing isn’t for you!
