December Night Sky

With the longest night fast approaching and the Autumn weather behind us (hopefully), it’s a great time to unbox your woollens and go outside and look up.

This month offers the promise a comet, 46P/Wirtanen, that should be visible in binoculars and if you know where to look, perhaps with the naked eye. It’s position in the sky is great for the Northern Hemisphere observer so want’s not to like. If this doesn’t attract you, there are a good few planets on show too. Mars and Venus standout and with a bit of knowledge and some optical assistance Uranus, Neptune, Mercury and Jupiter should be ticks you can get.
