Bookings – Sky-Watcher Classic 250P Dobsonian “Patrick”

The Sky-Watcher Classic 250P Dobsonian is a 10-inch Dobsonian reflector telescope designed for visual astronomy enthusiasts who want serious light-gathering power without stepping into the complexity and cost of computerized mounts. It has 1200mm focal length @ f/4.8 allowing it to collect enough light to reveal detailed views of deep-sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae, globular clusters, and planetary nebulae, while still delivering sharp planetary and lunar observations.

One of the biggest strengths of the Classic 250P is its simplicity. Mounted on a traditional Dobsonian rocker box, it offers smooth manual movement in both altitude and azimuth, making star-hopping intuitive once users become familiar with the night sky. It also comes with an electronic focuser to give a super smooth focussing capability.

Named after Sir Patrick Moore (1923–2012) the legendary English amateur astronomer, author, and broadcaster, best known for presenting the BBC’s The Sky at Night from 1957 until his death. As the host of this monthly programme for over 55 years, he set a world record for the longest-running TV series with the same original presenter, inspiring generations with his immense knowledge, rapid-fire speech, and trademark monocle.
