This Sky-watcher Skymax 127 Az GTi is called “Cecilia”.
Suited for Moon and planetary work, it is also a bit of an all rounder with 127mm /5″ aperture and a robust Maksutov design. The focal length is 1500mm and it is supplied with 25mm and 10mm Super Plossl eyepieces giving magnifications of 60 and 150 respectively.
The view finder is a simple red dot finder. Easy to use – just remember not to leave it on or you’ll need a small screw driver to change the watch style battery
The mount is powered by 8 AA batteries in the housing. It sits on a standard Sky-watcher tripod and accessory tray. It has telescopic legs with twist fixing and the extension head to get the eyepiece to head height.
The telescope is fully controlled by the Synscan mobile phone app available for Android and iPhone devices. You can access it via standard app stores:
Power up the telescope and you’ll find a new Wifi hotspot available to your phone. Connect to it and then open the Synscan app on the phone and connect to the telescope. That easy.
