On Wednesday 25th November, we’re delighted to be joined by Chris Lee, former Chief Scientist of the UK Space Agency for a talk entitled “Touring the Universe from a Back Garden”.
Reserve your seat using: https://bathastronomers.org.uk/2026_prof_chris_lee
In this talk, Chris will show how a modest telescope setup under Bortle 5 suburban skies can unlock the cosmos – journeying from the back garden all the way to the most distant galaxies. By limiting each observation to under one hour, Chris uses digital imaging – not for artistic astrophotography – but to illustrate the fascinating physics and vast scale of the universe. Attendees will discover how accessible deep-sky observation can be, and gain plenty of inspiration to start their own back garden journey.
