Stargazing at Stonehenge

English Heritage photo

We partnered up with English Heritage at Stonehenge to run a stargazing event for 80 or so people to celebrate the partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday 16th July. Volunteers from Beckington AS, Wells and Mendip Astronomers, Wilts AS and Bath Astronomers joined together to flank the stones with 8 telescopes.

The event was introduced by Maggie Aderin-Pocock and she came to join in the observing.

The Moon rose just after 9pm fighting the cloud but soon got clear and all could see there was a bit missing! The partial eclipse was underway.
