Join us on Wednesday 11th December from 7:30pm for a talk on Exploring the Atmospheres of the Solar System by our own, Meyrick Williams.
In “Exploring the Atmospheres of the Solar System”, we will embark on a journey through the diverse and captivating atmospheric phenomena that define our planetary neighbours. From the scorching, sulfuric clouds of Venus to the stormy, dynamic bands of Jupiter and Saturn, and the serene, methane-rich skies of Uranus and Neptune, we will uncover the secrets held within these alien atmospheres. We will also delve into the enigmatic layers of Titan’s nitrogen-methane envelope and Pluto’s thin, exotic haze, exploring how each atmosphere shapes its host planet or moon’s climate, weather, and potential for supporting life. Join us as we navigate the scientific wonders and mysteries of these distant worlds.
The venue is the Duncan Room, Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, 16-18 Queen Square, Bath. The talk is free for members, £5 for non-members adults and £2.50 for students. Young people enter for free. Secure your ticket for the talk from our Bath Astronomers’ box office.
